10. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (Rotten Tomatoes-94%)
i know, i know, it's not a romantic movie, but the movie is so good it deserves a place on any list i make. oh wait, make that every list ever made in history.

9. SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (RT-94%)
i don't understand why Indians are making such a fuss about the slumdog-gy condition potrayed in the movie. it's high time people get to see the real face of India, instead of watching all those fairy-tale-like potrayals in typical Hindi movies. that dancing scene at the end of the movie cinched its place on my favourite films' list, although i suspect Anil Kapoor's hair plays a part in that also.

8. AMELIE (RT-90%)
i don't know about any of you, but i first met Audrey Tautou in Da Vinci Code. i hated her in that film. but then i chanced to come across her in A Very Long Engagement. that movie is stunning, but not as stunning as Amelie. she's the unlikely but adorable (i can't believe i just said that) heroine. pure perfection.

7. TO CATCH A THIEF (RT-97%)
i love Grace Kelly, and i love Cary Grant. i absolutely love it when they were paired together. that bathing suit, i mean, that swimming in the stream scene will always be imprinted on my mind.

6. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN (RT-87%)
the ultimate gay movie. i can only say 9 words, GOD I WISH I KNEW HOW TO QUIT YOU.

5. ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (RT-94%)
with the presence of Jim Carrey, you might think that it's a funny movie. well, you coudn't be more wrong. this is a very dark film, even the amusing parts are totally freak-ish. you have to see the movie to know what i mean, because words fail me.

4. ATONEMENT(83%)
this movie is beautiful, from the acting and cinematography to the music score and gripping story-telling. i have a problem with the older Briony though. for some reason, she pisses the hell out of me. oh, read the novel too. it's like something you have never encounter before.

3. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (RT-85%)
another Keira Knightley's movie. as much as i hate her, i have to admit that girl can act. plus, it's a Jane Austen's. who can resist a Jane Austen book?

2. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S (RT-88%)
i love Audrey Hepburn. and i love that Givenchy dress she wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's. so what if the movie is all style? it's a beautiful style. anyway, i'm a fan of hers, so it's only normal to see her movie on my favourite movies list.

1. CASABLANCA (RT-98%) and GONE WITH THE WIND (RT-97%)
i had a difficult time in choosing which movie is better. since both of them are touted as the best films ever made (alongside Citizen Kane), i'm putting them in my number one spot. both movies have shaped history, and both have touched many hearts along the years. the films that gave us the classic, memorable dialogues ( "here's looking at you, kid" and "frankly, my dear, i don't give a damn) are pure epic.

so, that's my list.

btw i never know you like pride and prejudice!(i know not many likes that kind of movie), the beau is just gorgeous. the brits accent really gets to you, too.
i have a french version of amelie which i only understand 0.05% bits of it, fuh.. but i love, love the music score. one of them played by yann tiersen. he's the best.
have you watch dr zhivago? i'm trying to plant my time to watch it. it's a looonnggggg movie, i tell you...
wani, if revolutionary road is not out, then care to join for the new in town.. i know it's not up to your taste. but it has harry cconnick jr in it which i can't resist to miss!
count me in only if you're paying for it.
i absolutely love Dr Zhivago, but since Julie Christie is my 6th favourite actress (after Audrey Hepburn, Vivien Leigh, Grace Kelly, Bette Davis and Julie Andrews), Dr Zhivago is not in my top ten list. i'm not loving Ingrid Bergman that much, but Humphrey Bogart alone made up for it.
i have both amelie with english subtitles and its soundtrack. i can send both to you if you want.
