eyeliner? energy drinks?

shit.

Meet Uncle Hussein won the AJL. never thought they could do it. they always looked shitty and kinda stoned everytime i saw them on stage. they sounded shitty too, now that i think about it. Lan was always out of breath even at the start of their performances.

but i don't deny the song Lagu Untukmu is one killer song, although the arrangement is a bit out of place for my taste. i was hoping for them to not make it through. as you can tell, i'm not a fan.

i have issues with these so-called indie bands. why they want to be known as indie bands is something that i can't figure out. hey, they're on mainstream now. their songs are being played on radios, for goodness sake. it's like an exclusive club which only admits for chosen people *cough*posers*cough* like them. God, they have an ego the size of China. they (bands like Bunkface and Bittersweet) also refuse to converse in Malay even though their English are not that good. i'm speaking based on personal experiences. once, i even heard Bunkface's interviews on FlyFm, and sometime during the interview, the DJ asked them what will they do if they happen to meet some hot chicks. and their answer is, "flirt them". the DJ was quiet for a time and then he said, "oh you mean, flirt with them?". even a bad-english-speaking person like me had to laugh at that.

i don't know why they have to be so smug and think they are superior than others. it's not as if they're being original. The Times made a copy-and-paste exercise to Beatles' songs ( Strawberry Fields Forever, anyone?). i can even name more than a handful bands that take foreign ( which includes Japanese rock, several US-garage-sounding and UK-rock-progressive) songs and claim them as their own. they're lucky that the copyrighters are not at their heels slapping lawsuits.

so why are they gaining more and more fans each day? i don't deny that some of them are very good, like Butterfingers, although Emmet is one cocky guy and Disagree, although the lead singer (i don't remember his name) sounds very much like Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. and Pete Teo is a mean guitar player, just as mean as AG of Hujan (i'm not a fan of Hujan either. i always thought that without AG, Hujan is nothing). and that drummer of Dejavoodoospells is up there in my best drummers list, which also includes John Bonham of Led Zeppelin and Neil Peart of Rush, the drums genius.

most of these so-called indie bands have been trying for years for recognition, and now they've got it. so, i don't understand why they have to whine about injustice and all. they were the ones who chose music as their path so, stop yapping. after a while, they have become boring.

God, and to think i wasted my time to write about them!
