as of right now, only one minute separates Spain from its first international trophy since 1964. the only goal scored in the first half by Fernando Torres is what separates Germany from preventing it to happen, and i don't believe that the score will be leveled at these last minutes.

Spain displayed yet another winning performance, even though it pains me to admit that. and that's the final whistle. yup, Spain is the current European champions. the Germans, as always displayed a performance that borders on safe and pitiful. i'm glad i didn't put too much hope on them, as they have the ability to dissappoint the people who support them. even though an ocean of experience separates the two teams, the passion and the determination shown by the Spanish make up for their lack of experience. the younger team definitely deserves the trophy, no doubt about it.

with them as the winner, Spain makes a clean sweep of everything, including the best player of the tournament which goes to David Villa, despite his not playing in the final.

so, congratulations, Spain, the newly-crowned European champions. no one will call you the underachievers again.

i'm going to sleep now.
