Random acts of kindness

I'm sure at some point of your life, you've met a stranger who went all the way to help you and expected nothing in return, which is very rare nowadays. People in this day and age not only refuse to help others, they also think that receiving kindness is something that is akin to getting a snakebite. I think that tells a lot about the state of our society; everyone is so mistrustful of everyone, me included.

Let us celebrate the beauty of life by remembering all the random acts of kindness that were bestowed to us by strangers instead of whining about how unfair life is. Let us tell ourselves that there are good people in this world. Let us remind ourselves that the good will always trump the bad.

For me, I will always remember this, a single experience which totally changed my views on people and life in general. Tell me yours please. I love hearing stories about random acts of kindness.

And I don't know whether it's just me, but I have some issues with people who like to broadcast all the good deeds they've done. I don't know, I feel like it detracts from the purpose of why you're doing it in the first place. To me, instead of telling everyone what you've done, why don't you pay it forward? If someone bought you lunch, then do it to someone else. It's as simple as that.

Yes, I know, me preaching about kindness and selflessness? Fine lah I'll find something to bitch about.
