Payah betul

Just got back from accompanying my Mom to her one-of-those-meetings with her friends.

A Mak Cik, upon knowing I'm not married yet and disregarding any concern that I might have a special someone already.

"Aunty ada anak sedara, engineer, gaji nak dekat RM7,000. Senang la awak nanti. Boleh berhenti kerja terus lepas kawin. Ni haa nombor dia."

I don't know which is more insulting, that she thinks I can't get a man on my own that she needs to interfere, or that she's implying that my occupation is so merepek that to get RM7,000 is impossible, or that she thinks that my parents' efforts of working their pants off so they could send me to school and university to be where I am now are wasted, or that my ACCA is soooo worthless.

Amboi nak balas jasa mak ayah pun tak sempat lagi, kau sedap cakap suruh aku berhenti kerja kan.

It's hard being a female.
