What inspires your creations?
Sad songs, old movies, modern dance and ballet, old photos, other designers, natural elements and wine.
Dammit.
This is the reason why I will never make it into the art world (art-something subjective and creativity-defined, like writing and painting, in case you're too cool to care). If someone were to ask me that question, I couldn't simply answer "Jem and the Holograms, Joseph Gordon Levitt and honey cornflakes (for some weird reasons I'm addicted to honey cornflakes right now) " I guess, because I have to give an answer that only 0.000001% of the world population can understand. I mean, sad songs inspire you to design dresses how?
Not that I know how Jem and the Holograms, Joseph Gordon Levitt and honey cornflakes can ever inspire my creativity anyway.
I'm currently reading the autobiography of Barbara Hepworth (the sculptor) and I'm obsessed with this quote, well, make that one of many. It's a bit long by the way.
"I do not want to make a stone horse that is trying to and cannot smell the air. How lovely is the horse’s sensitive nose, the dog's moving ears and deep eyes; but to me these are not stone forms and the love of them and the emotion can only be expressed in more abstract terms. I do not want to make a machine that cannot fulfil its essential purpose; but to make exactly the right relation of masses, a living thing in stone, to express my awareness and thought of these things."
Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
I think this quote explains why I have yet to finish reading her autobiography even after 3 months.
If you pride yourself on being a 90s music lover and you've never heard of this song, then you should be ashamed of yourself.
This is another thing altogether. If you're my friend and you're pregnant, then I'd be very very very very very very happy for you BUT I'd really appreciate it if you just call/SMS/BBM/Whatsapp me about the news instead of sending me a picture of your pregnancy test kit that you just peed on euwwww. I can live my life happily without having to imagine about you doing the peeing act, thankyouverymuch.
