Should I put a disclaimer that I'm going to talk about my period before I proceed?

Oh there you have it. A disclaimer of sorts.

One of the things that I hate the most about being a woman (apart from being short and emotional most of the time) is that I have to go through the monthly menstrual period and the pain. Though my period is somewhat erratic, the pain is always there.

Okay I'll stop, after this one last thing.

So anyway, since my period is kind of erratic, a doctor suggested that I go for pap smear (I haven't gone to one in case you're wondering). He told me the chances of me getting a cervical cancer could be slim because my symptoms are the opposite of the usual symptoms of the cancer but he wanted me to go anyway to be on the safe side. Since it's almost impossible for me to get away from work nowadays, I put off the pap smear, I don't know, maybe until next year? Besides, I don't think I'm prepared to hear any bad news, if there's any bad news.

I told a few colleagues about what the doctor told me and one of them exclaimed, "Eh jangan pergi pap smear la! You kan tak kawin lagi. Nanti you dah tak virgin. Takkan la nak datang kat husband you dengan takde virginity?"

And I feel like slapping her. Perempuan, kau datang dari zaman mana ni?

I know the chances of me having a cervical cancer is slim but if I do have it, don't you think being a virgin is nothing compared to being dead? Priorities woman, priorities.

And what guy is so stupid to be so hung up about virginity anyway?
