If you forget me

I've been watching/reading too much HIV/AIDS-related videos and articles this week I don't know why. It started off with God Give Me More Time (a Japanese drama series starring Kyoko Fukada and forever my love Takeshi Kaneshiro ) that I downloaded earlier this year but I only got to watch it recently. I put off watching the drama series because I hate any movie/drama that glorifies prostitution but man, this trailer sold it for me.

Okay lah I lied. I'd watch anything with Takeshi Kaneshiro in it.

This drama caused an uproar at the time of its showing. I still remember that TV3 was supposed to show this after With Love ( starring another of my forever my love Yutaka Takenouchi) but because the drama was associated with AIDS and premarital sex, TV3 had to axe it.

Oh well, benda yang dah lepas jangan dikenang. Bukannya tak boleh cari online pun sekarang.

And then, I watched all Queen's videos that I could find on Youtube. When I say all, I mean all, even this video.

I really hate this video/song because Freddie Mercury looked so frail and sickly. I like to remember him as a vibrant, great performer that he was (please watch their live performances to know what I mean) so watching him like that is making me sad. I still can't watch the colour re-edit of this video because I know his frailty is more visible in colour.

And then, I came across this.

This is completely heartbreaking because these chimps have spent their lifetimes (some of them are 30++ years ) inside a building and that was the first time they saw sunlight. As they were injected with HIV and hepatitis viruses (the pharmaceutical company that captured them were trying to find a cure for AIDS), it was only a matter of time before they die.

As this story came out during the Petknode issue, I can only ask myself how can human be so cruel. This is beyond rational thinking. What went through their heads? Really, what went through their heads?

Animal experimentation and testing should be stopped, because no matter what people say, animal testing is not done for the good of mankind (if it is, the cure for AIDS would be found by now) Scientists are smart people, I'm sure they can find some way to find cures for death-threatening diseases without hurting these animals.
