Religious disharmony

An officemate (he's an atheist) once asked me,

"How do you know that your religion is the right one? And what makes you think the other religions are the wrong ones?"

I thought for a moment and said this,

"I think there are no wrong religions, you only have to have faith that what you believe in is right. There's no use believing in something if you think that something is wrong, don't you think?"

So proud of myself for giving him a matured answer instead of snarking at him like I usually do haha.

Anyway,

All these arguments about religions are making me sad. Why can't we tolerate each other? Why can't we respect each other's faith? Why do we have to resort to name-calling and regard each other as stupid?

If you're an atheist, what gives you leave to disrespect people who have their own faith? If you don't agree with the teachings/rules, then use your words wisely. You say that overzealous religious freaks are close-minded idiots, don't you think that when you shoot down someone's opinion who disagree with you and calling that someone as stupid, you're acting like those overzealous religious freaks that you mock and hate so much? If you're as civilised and as smart and as open-minded as you think yourself are, then why can't you accept others' opinions? Your actions contradict what you've been preaching all along.

The irony......

Why do we have to argue on everything? So what if you think that my religion is wrong, be tolerant lah. And you call yourself a Malaysian?

Sometimes I think that all these issues are created by some individuals who want to divert the attention from the real issue. Don't ask me what issue, because I really don't know. It just feels like it.

Really, how did it come to this?
