I don't think there will be a return journey, Mr Frodo

There's always a place in my heart for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I think it's because for once in my life, I'm a part of something big, like the Star Wars original trilogy. Like those uncles and aunties who keep on bragging about the Star Wars stuff and all, I want to brag about LotR to the youngsters when the time arrives too.

I can still remember what my friends and I went through to watch the first instalment, The Fellowship of the Rings. I was 16 at that time. We went to Sunway Pyramid because some of them had a MIRC gathering and we just tagged along. Let me tell you, from where I lived, Sunway Pyramid was really, really far. And I was the only one who was dying to see that movie. Thank God these people had enough sense to go with my pick. When I was at the ticket counter, that GSC guy had the nerve to ask me, "kenapa nak tengok movie ni? Macam tak best je.".

Ye, bang, saya memang suka tengok movie yang orang lain tak suka tengok.

Of course lah benda tu cakap dalam hati je.

I fell in love with the trilogy from the very first scene. The battle scene at the foot of Mount Doom, with the swords clinging, with the war cries, everything, just took my breath away (A sissy friend of mine closed her ears because she said that the sound is too ngilu, not that I understood what it meant that time). I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for almost 3 hours. It was just mesmerising. I didn't even dare blink for fear of missing an important scene. Yes, I was that awed.

The MIRC gathering? Well, since I wasn't a member (my friends were active chatters-chatroom @16, if I'm not mistaken) and I was still dazed from the FotR drunk, I could care less about it.

And then the second trilogy, The Two Towers came in. It has my favouritest battle scene of all of battle scenes in the trilogy. I just loved the Helm's Deep scene even though people say that it's the most boring instalment, but hey, I never said that I have usual taste.

What about the third instalment, The Return of the King? Well, everyone loved it, I watched it 3 times, so that should tell you what I think about it. The anticipation was just insane. People dressing up as hobbits, Arragorn, Gandalf and the rest, man, you wouldn't believe that you were in Malaysia at that moment.

I wish I had the guts to dress as Gollum that time. Sigh.

Ateem: dah semua pun dia jatuh cinta. persoalannya di sini, dengan siapa dia tak jatuh cinta.

Anon: Gollum fascinates me. Dengan multiple personatilies disordernya, dengan schizophrenianya, memang fascinating.

Zira: ya, saya tau. kamu dah bagitau banyak kali.

Hari tu YM dengan kawan pasal LotR. teringat kisah masa nak tengok tu. tau tak, daripada berbelas orang yang pegi sekali tu, cuma Sharina, Mimah and me je yang tgk movie ni. yang lain semuanya pegi main bowling. yang lain semua sceptic. haih. naysayers, look where LotR trilogy stands now.
