are you sure there's no depression?

i always wonder what are the grounds for someone (in this case, a minister) to say/predict/confirm that Malaysia will not go into recession, probably next year. i didn't know how to react when i read that the second finance minister, Yakcop assured that Malaysia is unlikely to enter recession. wow, we must be very lucky then to be in Malaysia even when the whole world is crumbling around us.

if i were you, i wouldn't be jumping up and down right now because not only the stocks market are closing lower than ever, there are more and more companies declaring bankruptcy. i wonder how he came to the conclusion that we might be safe from all of the chaos when even Iceland is on the brink of bankruptcy. Malaysia must be full with intelligent and smart investors and fund-caretakers to make sure that every Malaysian is not affected. double wow. i'm impressed.
