The story of my life

I'm home, and before anyone asks me what the hell am i doing at home in the middle of the week, it's because my laziness has got the better part of me.

well, anyway, i know that most of the people *cough* the girls *cough*out there know at least one or two animes/mangas that are turned into films or drama series. even i can name several, like Meteor Garden, Hana-whatcumaycallit, and Death Note. although only a number of them are downright fugly, none of them gives a very satisfying result. in fact, most of them are downright boring and stupider than my 12-year-old sister's turtles.

Death Note is one of the best mangas i've ever read in my entire life, and to see the degration of this manga on the silver screen really broke my heart. what's worse, they made it look so cheap and so comical i burst my stomach laughing during the whole movie. it was that bad, you see. it's a surprise that i can keep my sanity until now.

most of the animes always come down to one conclusion, that is, the hero and heroine fall in love and they live happily ever after. no, that's not the bad part. what really grates my nerve is the how.

Meteor Garden tells the story of 4 super-rich boys studying in a super-rich (and super-stupid, should i say) and because they are more good-looking than anyone else, everyone caters to their wimps. one day, a super-poor, super-plain, and not-beautiful-at-all-so-until-now-i-wonder-what-her-appeals-are girl came to the college, and voila! a love story blossoms. (sorry i can't tell you more, because my patience only came to that part).

Hana-whatcumaycallit is a story about a girl who enters an all-boy school because her idol, who's studying at that school is retiring (he's a runner) and she wants to persuade him not to. (do i get that right?). needless to say, towards the end, the girl and the ex-jock falls in love.

wow, she has a very good memory, that one, and very alert to her surrounding because i don't think i knew every athletes in my school, let alone one from a different school.

see what i mean? have you seen any plot that can get any stupider than these two? even my life story, if it became a movie, is better than that.

nevertheless, surprise, surprise, they became popular. in fact they were so popular, they were made in two versions, one in japanese and one in taiwan. there are also talks to make a korean version of Meteor Garden.

i just don't see the appeals. yes, i watched the drama series, and yes, i laughed when the jokes came out, but i just don't see what makes them so attractive to viewers (my sisters among them). they are so stupid, i can only shake my head in amazement that these kinds of stupidity exist.

why can't they just stick to anime-ize the mangas? i've watched animes like Full Metal Alchemist and i think that people should leave it at that. why do they have to turn the mangas into movies and tv series? not everything can be turned into a real-life figure, just like not everything can be explained by logic. it's a pity that not everyone shares my view.

well hell. i couldn't care less. i'm more interested in other things, anyway. but it got me thinking...

if my life story is documented on the screen, who do you think will be my love interest? can i choose Gerard Butler?
